Slipseater MSS2 and the MSS1 Slip Seater Radio Box on sale are not the same version that is sold on The Aluminum Box Companies web site.

Update on product information.  It has come to the attention of The Aluminum Box Company that a similar version of is original slip seat box, aluminum radio box version is being sold on several sites on the Internet.  



The MSS1 is a copy of our older Model 66.  Which we now call the WEDGE BOX
The MSS2 is a copy of our discontinue 300-TC
DESIGN DIFFERENCES
Workman Model MSS1 is a copy of Basic Model 66 that we sell.  The MSS1 copy is outdated by a noticeable difference, the bottom.  Notice that to access the boxes components you do so through a hinged bottom.  This version is a copy of our Original 66 which was updated to the present version and done so to improve access to your equipment for install and repair.  The Aluminum Box Company strives to improve its products through its customers.  The improvements that we decided to make were suggestions from our customers actual us in the field from truckers.  This improvement allows a much improved access to equipment for wiring, install, removal, and access to the storage area.  

Quality
The thickness of aluminum that is used in MSS1 is a step below ours.  We feel this jeopardizes the overall soundness of a product designed to get years of service.  Thickness creates strength.  It is hard to tell by looks alone but our proven perform Model 66 has been in the field for over 15years without structure failure.  When we our installation department receives a customer request to update his radio or repair a piece of equipment the box might show a million miles of usage but no structure damage from normal use.  Thinner is a way to lower cost but will bite you in the long haul.  
The biggest complaint we get from truckers that purchased the MSS1 copy is failure of the handle.  This seems to occur early within a few weeks in usage.  This early failure has to be because of overall quality of the handle.  Cheap handle.  A way to lower the manufacturing cost in this case but a risk to the customer to drop his box when this occurs.
Hinges are of similar quality.  Locking hasps same quality as well.  We want compromise our products with these components.

The Knock-off Workman Model MSS2 shows to be constructed of same parts that is used in the MSS1.  Cheaper hinges cheaper hasps and handles.  The Aluminum Box Company dropped this design several years ago because of its outdated style and lack of consumer support.  


Summary
There is a place in the market for cheaper products.  Products that deliver similar service.  Therefore, if your budget requires you to use the cheaper version we accept this.  The Aluminum Box Company will not compromise its product in any way to compete with this knock-off.  Made in China does not work here.  Our product is Made in USA.  We buy our components from companies that make the hinges and handles in the USA.  We support our long line of customers that have proven to us me make the Best Slip Seat Radio Box you can buy.  If we find a need to improve our product we will do so.  However, we will not compromise the quality of our product.
