The MSS2 is a copy of our discontinued Model 300-TC The MSS1 is a copy of our older Model 66 You can buy these at several sites (not to mention) for 89.95 MSS1 and 119.95 for MSS2 Our version sold on our site is Basic Model 66/ (MSS1) copy ABC66 is 167.99 with 20.00 off with purchase of installation service or 20.00 off no installation service for just being a trucker. . No price on MSS2 our original one the 300-TC since it was discontinued for lack of sales. These versions are distributed through a company called Workman Electronic Products Below is a breakdown of the differences of these similar products.
* Design Workman MSS1 is a version of the ABC66. Out dated in design by the most noted feature the bottom access. Hinged bottom lid. To gain access for assemble or repair or storage you will have to lay it on the front or back to un latch. We found with or old version that there was room for improvement which we did 2years ago. The ABC66 hinges for the back, allowing easier access by the whole back opening up. No need to change position of the box just open up the back. * Quality The thickness of aluminum that is used in the MSS1 is a step below. Thinner is better but not when you compromise strength and quality. Our boxes have been made out of the same thickness aluminum from day one. They take a beating while in service. Thinner material in our opinion makes for a lower cost of each but our design is for the long haul not just to price below our competitor. With 15years in service we have never repaired a single box because of structure failure. Quality of a product Made in USA.
* Components Hinges, hasps, ribits. The biggest complaint we get when we are asked to repair a Workman MSS1 is replace the broken handle. In some cases early in the life cycle of their box. You carry the box with this handle and when it breaks you drop it. No room for compromise here. Again to lower the overall cost you pay less for the parts hence cheap handle. The Aluminum Box Companies Slip Seat Box has never had to replace any of its handles. The hinges are part of the structure construction. The MSS1 uses a different brand and we feel similar quality as the handle. Work the hasps on our ABC66 and you can tell the difference. The Model MSS2 shows to be constructed of the same parts that's is used in the MSS1. Cheaper hinges cheaper hasps and handles thinner material. The Aluminum Box Company dropped this design several years ago for lack of sales with its outdated style and design.
* Summary There is always a place in the market for cheaper products. Products that deliver a similar service. Therefore, if your budget requires you to use the cheaper version that's the way it is.
